First grade teachers need your help.
We are starting a new writing unit - Writing an Opinion. This unit lets students express and defend their opinions through dialogue and writing. To begin, students will share a collection of small items that represents themselves. For example, some students collect stones, shells, books, or small figurines. At school, each student will make a decision about which item in their collection is the best and write reasons for their opinion. Later in the unit, students write opinions about various topics - toys, restaurants, video games, and lastly favorite books.
This Thursday, we are asking each student to bring a small collection of 4-5 items in a small bag or shoe box. The collections will be returned home in a week. Please send small items that are not fragile or expensive.
